Autumn 22. Hats Off
A stylish arrangement on a hat box
Equipment: a small hat box as the container, small oasis pouch.
Flowers: two anthurium, berries, seed heads, porcupine quills, feathers
Foliage: anthurium leaves, tree ivy seed heads, cordyline leaves
1) Soak the oasis pouch carefully and stick the base of it to the top of the hatbox. Place it to one side of the hatbox rather than in the centre.
2) Add the two anthuriums: one cut very low and added to the centre - it should lie as flat as possible. The other one (or two) at an angle with a longer stem.
3) Add the foliage, seeds, feathers, quills and berries that define the framework of the arrangement (height, width and depth). Make sure it is asymmetric and as low as possible, spreading across the top of the hatbox.
4) Fill in the gaps with the remaining low lying foliage (ivy, more berries, feathers, seedheads)
5) The order I added things in: anthuriums, quills, cordyline, anthurium leaves, poppy seed heads, red berries, ivy seedheads, black berries, feathers.
There were some lovely ideas for this one: ribbons, moss, interesting containers. Each one a stylish small βhatβ.
It is also a great way to dress up a present box eg. pannetone box for Christmas, chocolates for birthdays. Definitely one
